Zpods is a high-tech bed that children and adults with autism and other sensory disorders give that person a place to de-stress and calm down. Think of it as that person’s safe space they can go to if they’re in a bad mood, dealing with sensory overload, or are overwhelmed.
As an autistic individual, I was lucky to have help and therapy. It helped me function in a world where neurodiverse people’s needs are not always met or even acknowledged. But not everyone with autism is the same. They react to everything in the world differently. For example, things like loud or subtle noises, being touched, or certain foods can set them off. While some find ways to function in the world and make a living, others might find it hard just to step outside.
The zpod could help them with over-stimulation. The zpod has a TV, Bluetooth-enabled bone headphones that provide great sound, and USB outlets you can add during the purchase or later add to your zpod. They do have a payment plan, so you pay over time. Then again, no one really knows if this bed is eco-friendly. No one knows what materials it’s made from or if it’s recyclable. If it breaks, or in the event of an emergency, how would you fix it? I think this bed is worth considering if you have a child with autism or any other sensory disorders.
