In a previous post, I vaguely discussed Fusion energy and hydrogen-fueled energy. There is a new energy storage option, the Flow battery, also known as the Redox flow battery (RFB). A flow battery uses oxidation to create energy and then stores it in a liquid electrolyte solution.
Flow batteries are way ahead of their time, and the number of flow batteries is increasing.
One of the biggest challenges of using solar and wind energy is storing it for when it's needed. Flow batteries could be used for energy storage. We have been using lithium batteries for a long time, and everyone knows they aren't environmentally friendly.
Here's why I believe flow batteries are the future of energy: they can last a long time, have low maintenance costs, have no standby losses, are environmentally friendly, and have an efficient charging method. Personally, I think low carbon/ sustainable energy sources like fusion, wind and solar, coupled with flow energy storage technologies, are the future of energy and could be used to power our homes, businesses, and transportation.
